As I return to my work, I wanted to leave a brief message apologizing for the mess and assuring you that everything will be back (nearly) as it was before the staff account was compromised today. Thankfully, everything was just made into a very large mess that likely will take a few days to work out. We'll get the galleries and latest topics back first and then move backward into the older content.

It is slow going, sorting through these merge-messes (as I not-so-affectionately call them). We've restored more than 1500 posts to General Chat already and many elsewhere. I owe my gratitude to all of the staff who have been so eager to help in this not-so-pleasant task.

Maybe it's time to make sure staff are more secure? This is becoming too common here and on boards in general.

Sometime yeserday, one of the staff accounts was compromised. Unlike most members, staff do not have flood control on their accounts, so whoever or whatever gained access to that account began spamming, particularly in General Chat. Dozens upon dozens of old topics were brought back to the front page, and I assume that some topics may have been moved or other general mischief occured. I think that some kind of spambot or something may have been behind the whole mess... those posts were coming in incredibly fast when I saw them! Anyway, I'm sure the staff team is on top of it now.

Same thing just happened on Infinite Results, however 2 accounts was cracked into.

why are these crackings occuring and how do they find out your passwords i know about key logging and that but is that how they do it or what cause this is happening a lot recently
